With the recent development in cellular IoT space, every company is looking for easy ways to provide remote cellular connectivity in their product offerings. LoRa and Sigfox are growing pretty fast but it is still not available everywhere and it needs more effort in setup Vs existing cellular network which becomes very effective in terms of providing data coverage to IoT devices with already existing infrastructure. Also, the new wave of NB-IoT is nothing but extending cellular network for low power and low cost IoT deployment. I will cover NB-IoT later in a separate topic.

IoT Sim Cards

When it comes to using cellular network, going for individual service provider is not a sufficient option. And specially if your product is distributed worldwide. Even in a single territory, you will never be very sure which network providers works best. It will be operationally very challenging to manage multiple providers for your IoT product.

To solve this, various companies are coming up with really good solutions and I am particularly impressed by Hologram. Hologram provides a IoT sim card with secure cellular connectivity in over 196 countries and 550 carriers. Best things about Hologram IoT sim card is – they can auto select best network to use while sending your data. They are extremely easy to setup and use. You just need to get a Hologram sim card and activate it online.

Hologram has a cloud platform to manage all your sim cards. You can start and stop your data plan as per demand. You can also set an upper data limit for all your sim cards data usage and much more. Hologram pricing is common for all countries and it is flexible without any contract. With Hologram SDK and REST API, you can manage everything from your own platform. Hologram truly makes sim card as a service platform.

There are couple of more IoT sim providers out there in the market but Hologram is currently leading the space. Hologram sim also works with NB-IoT or LTE CATM network with the same sim if the network is available in your region.
